Description:
Afast track, design-build approach was used to design and construct this 211,000 sq. ft. facility for Continental Airlines in just under 10 months. The structural framing system for all five (5) buildings was designed and supplied by Butler Heavy Structures. The wide-body hangar building provides an interior clearspan of 233' and has been designed to accommodate a Boeing B747 aircraft. The building utilizes a braced frame design with 33" deep mill section columns and flat bottom roof trusses. The narrow body hangar utilizes a similar design and is large enough to house a Boeing B737 aircraft. To meet Factory Mutual insurance requirements, Butler supplied a 22-gage MR-24® standing seam roof and increased the number of roof purlins in high uplift areas. Other products supplied by Butler include the Butlerib® II wall panels and Butler’s standard Z-shaped, coldform members for the purlins and girts. Butler Builder®: Schwob & Sage Building Corp.
