Description:

Heavy Structures designed and supplied the structural steel and cladding systems for this new 80,000 sq. ft. maintenance hangar for Southwest Airlines located at Dallas Love Field Airport. A unique framing system was required to meet the Owner’s requirement for a two bay opening on the front of the hangar and a one bay opening on the side of the hangar to accommodate three Boeing 737-700 Next Generation series aircraft. The framing system consists of a 22' deep parallel chord truss spanning 275' across the front of the hangar. 12'-6" deep parallel chord trusses spanning 158' and spaced at 27' centers span from the front truss to the backwall of the hangar. 9' deep non-parallel chord trusses spanning 138’ provide the clear opening in the sidewall of the hangar for the third maintenance bay. Roof trusses support maintenance crane runways. A two story office/maintenance shop is provided along the backwall of the hangar. The entire facility features a standing seam metal roof system and metal wall panel system.
